March 13th, 2010 - 8th Annual Social Powwow

Please come to Willamette University's 8th Annual Social Powwow.

Despite being primarily a social powwow, there is a Women's Traditional contest this year, open to all ages, with prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.

March 13th, 2010 - Lawilowan American Indian Festival

Third annual Lawilowan American Indian Festival, March 13th (one day event) to be held at NEW LOCATION: Student Recreation Center, Shippensburg University, Shippensburg, PA. This is a newer, larger venue, as we had over 300 dancers March 2009, and over 3,000 attendees from the general public. Univ. street directions to follow. This is a traditional, non-competitive festival, put on as a gift to the American Indian people. All proceeds will benefit the American Diabetes Association, Awakening the Spirit Project. 21 NA vendors. All vendors and drums by invitation only! All dancers and vendors will be provided dinner by event organizer at no charge. Concession stand for general public. Admission: $5. Elders 65 and over, and children 10 and under free admission. Open to the public 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Grand Entry: Noon. Head dancers to be announced. Drums: TBA. Emcee: TBA. Arena Director: Many Hawks. Entertainment: TBA

March 19th, 2010 - 36th Annual Denver March Powwow

Witness the pagentary and beauty of tribal dances as performed by over 1,000 American Indian Dancers. Inspired by time-honored songs, performed by 30+ drum groups. Watch a grand entry which begins each session. It has been described as "a magnificant array of color, motion, and sound. Storytellers share the legacies, legends, and histories of a distinguished and proud people. Enjoy the works of tribal craftsmen at 180 booths. Enjoy a freshly made Fry Bread or Indian Taco.

March 26th, 2010 - 4th Annual Indian Health Center Fundraiser Comedy Jam

This year will mark the 4th Annual Indian Health Center Fundraiser Comedy Jam. It will take place at the Santa Clara Marriott in Santa Clara, CA. This year we will have the four popular comedians from the Powwow Comedy Jam. Comedians include: MArc Yaffee, Jim Ruel, Vaughn Eaglebear, and JR Redwater.

All general admission seating is $25. The show starts at 8 p.m. and the doors open at 7 p.m.

There is also a special rate if you are attending the 33rd Annual California Indian Education Conference.

This is an alcohol and drug free event. Age 18 and over ONLY.

March 26th, 2010 - 4th Annual Indian Health Center Fundraiser Comedy Jam

This year will mark the 4th Annual Indian Health Center Fundraiser Comedy Jam. There are four very funny American Indian comics scheduled to attend that include; Marc Yaffe, Jim Ruel, Vaughn Eaglebear, and JR Redwater. These four comic were also seen on a SHOWTIME comedy special this past January.

All funds raised from this Comedy Jam go directly to providing services to our communities most vulnerable population.

All general admissio seating will cost $25. There is also a special discounted rate if you are attending the 33rd Annual California Indian Education Conference.

8 p.m. start time, 7 p.m. the doors open

Seventh annual festival just a few minutes from Washington DC. Full weekend of workshops, vendors and evening concerts. Performers include Hawk Henries, Aura Surey with Ron Warren and Janice Torres, Cornell Kinderknecht, and Suzanne Teng & Mystic Journey. Registration for full weekend only $125 by March 1, 2010. Theme is "Winds of Harmony" and workshops will focus on ways to play with other instruments and to compose and perform. Beginners absolutely welcome!

Community Event Brings Together Tribes from North America
Features Traditional Dancers, Drummers, Food and Arts and Crafts

Annual Powwow featuring the sound of ceremonial drumming and the awe-inspiring sight of Native American dancers in their colorful, handcrafted outfits. The event, held to celebrate Native American cultures, is free and open to the public. Cal State Fullerton’s Inter-Tribal Student Council, Association for Inter-Cultural Awareness and Associated Students Inc. host the event.
